D: We traveled under overcast skies across the wide open expanses of Saskatchewan. A lot of flat land with vistas that seem to extend forever. Two lane roads with shoulder areas on Rt 39 to Moose Jaw and then north on Rt 2, then divided roadway for Rt 11 to Saskatoon. We came through a couple interesting areas with low hills. Short grass and a few cattle grazing. Many flat areas seem to have wheat that is just emerging.
There wasn't much wind, but it was cold all the way -- 7 degrees to 12 degrees C (high around 53 degrees F). We both wore our insulated jacket liners, but didn't plug in the heating coils.
No photos today. Limited stops and anxious to move on. The photos you usually see of Saskatchewan are accurate. Even the smallest towns have a grain elevator and storage bins along a railroad track. The big towns have more than one.
No satellite signals today either -- too overcast. We traveled a total of 310 miles, our shortest day yet, and are spending the night in Saskatoon.
T: Today was pretty cold. We saw lots of wide open spaces and some domesticated buffalo. We encountered lots of old looking people going to the Fleetwood Mac concert here tonight, then I realized they're our age.

Glad to hear you are both safe and weathering the cold! Thanks for helping me brush up on my western Canadian geography knowledge! From looking at the map, I'm guessing you may be headed for Edmonton next...am I right?
ReplyDeleteYES! We arrived in Edmonton, AB this evening.
