Riding Through Hail

T: We're staying tonight at an old (1904) lodge on the Gakona River. It's very nice and we had a good dinner at the restaurant. The drive up was interesting - we saw glaciers, got hailed on and visited Wrangell - St. Elias National Park.
D: The Glenn Highway from Anchorage to the Richardson Highway is a beautiful route, with trees close to the road and curved mountain roads along the first part, then boreal forest stretching out for miles as you approach Glennallen, Alaska. We bought "groceries" in Palmer, Alaska, and went through some rain and a brief hail storm later in the day.
