Return to Tok, Alaska

D: Today we rode through more sprinkles and cool weather to Tok, Alaska, where we will begin traveling toward home on the Alaska Highway. The Tok Cutoff / Glenn Highway is very scenic, with landscape variations between boreal forests and mountain passes. There were some periods of sunshine, but it was cold enough for us to plug in our heated jackets. We only traveled about 127 miles today, as planned, because we hoped to have some good views of the mountains and volcanos in the Wrangell - St. Elias National Park. Unfortunately, there were no long range views, but the weather was clear enough for us to enjoy the mountains we were passing through as we approached Tok. This evening, there were thunderstorms and lots of rain, so we were glad to be resting inside a motel.
